Franck L. Goldwasser, Christian Rannenberg, Roger C. Wade – Crazed And Dangerous
European and US blues fans are no stranger to Franck L. Goldwasser, the French / US singer and guitarist. Born in Paris and a 40-year resident of sunny California, Franck is not only known for his own bands but also as an in-demand sideman with such greats as Sonny Rhodes, Jimmy McCracklin, Rick Estrin, Charlie Musselwhite, Sunnyland Slim, James Harman and many more. Christian Rannenberg is without doubt one of the leading blues pianists worldwide and has played with a who's who of blues legends. Having learned from Blind John Davis, the most popular studio musician of the 1930s, he was also mentored by Sunnyland Slim, Henry Gray, James Booker and Willie Mabon. Christian spent several years in Chicago and in California. Top-drawer blues and boogie piano. Together with the British harmonica player and singer (Little Roger & The Houserockers / It Takes Two), who has been bringing his unique spontaneity, humour and stage presence to stages around Europe for 30 years, these three leading musicians have joined forces to bring you blues you can use ! A rare treat not to be missed ! Sometimes an album comes along on which you hear both the experience of the musicians and their love for the blues. Like on the album "Crazed And Dangerous" by the trio Franck L. Goldwasser, Christian Rannenberg and Roger C. Wade. Singer-guitarist Franck L. Goldwasser is also known by the name Paris Slim, a name that stands for the fact that he was born in Paris. He has been living in California for years now. Singer-pianist Christian Rannenberg was heavily influenced by blues artists such as James Booker and Sunnyland Slim while singer and harmonica player Roger C. Wade may be known for his band Little Roger & The Houserockers. This trio has delivered an album with a sound that sounds very unpolished and at the same time very intimate. They open with the driving blues 'Weekend Woman' led by the powerful pumping piano and guitar over which Roger C. Wade makes his harmonica roar and moan powerfully and there is also room for the fiercely biting acoustic guitar of Franck L. Goldwasser, 'Sweet Borrowing heavily from 'Little Red Rooster', Little Gray Pigeon is an unpolished pomper with the swishing bottleneck of Franck L. Goldwasser and the roaring harmonica of Roger C. Wade. In 'Crazed And Dangerous' 'Rollin' And Tumblin'' influences appear, a nice raw pumping song with hard piercing electric guitar playing. 'Troubled Shoes' sounds languid and driving and especially raw, partly due to the swishing slide guitar and roaring harmonica. 'Bad Iburg Breakdown' is also pumping steadily on. Christian Rannenberg's rocking piano keeps the momentum going. 'She's Hip' swings exuberantly and irresistibly and 'Watermill Jump' has a smooth, somewhat jazzy swing. 'Mother Earth' is an intimate cover of the Memphis Slim song. The bonus track 'My Daily Wish' is also a cover by Robert Junior Lockwood. This can be heard live in an intimate sultry way. One of the songs is called 'If You Dig Me (Let Me Know)', a raw rocker. And I can only respond to this with "With this". And that goes for this entire album with wonderful old-fashioned raw blues !
